Your Porto theme includes a Mega Menu extension which provides more control over your site's navigation.


How do I show or hide certain categories?

With just plain Magento, you can show / hide categories from the main navigation menu by default, but they will also be added / removed from the layered navigation / filters. The Porto theme allows you to only hide it from the main navigation menu.


How do I hide categories from both the main navigation and filters?

In some cases, you may want to hide a seasonal category or another limited time category across the website. The steps below will illustrate how to hide a category from both the main navigation and filters.


Step-by-step guide

  1. In the Magento admin panel, navigate to Catalog > Categories.
  2. Click the category you wish to edit in the left sidebar and then toggle the Include in Menu setting.
    1. Include in Menu Setting
      1. Yes - Category will show in main navigation menu and filters.
      2. No - Category will not show in main navigation menu or filters.
  3. Press Save.
  4. Refresh the cache.


How do I hide categories from only the main navigation and not filters?

In some cases, you may want to hide a a category only from the main navigation especially when the number of categories causes them to wrap around to the next line. The steps below will guide you through hiding a category from only the main navigation.


Step-by-step guide

  1. In the Magento admin panel, navigate to Catalog > Categories.
  2. Click the category in the left sidebar and then open the SW Menu section.
  3. In the SW Menu, toggle the Hide This Menu Item setting and then click Save.

      1. Yes -  The category will not show in the main navigation menu. It will still show in the filters.
      2. No - The category will show in the main navigation menu. It will show in the filters.
  4. Refresh the cache.


How do I change the depth of the main navigation menu?

When your store has several category layers, you may need to limit how far down the main navigation menu will show.


Step-by-step guide

  1. In the Magento admin panel, navigate to Stores > Configuration.
  2. Open the Porto Extension section and click Mega Menu.
  3. Open the General Setting section. Next to Visible Menu Depth, enter how many layers you want to show and press Save.
  4. Refresh the cache.


How do I change the number of columns in the main navigation menu?

If a category has several subcategories, you may want to adjust how many show across.

  1. In the Magento admin panel, navigate to Catalog > Categories.
  2. Click the category in the left sidebar and then open the SW Menu section.
  3. In the SW Menu section, change the Sub Category Columns and then click Save.
  4. Refresh the cache.
